About Me

Me, behind some woods, smiling at the camera.

Welcome! My name is Patrick Olszewski, and I’m a writer.

I studied at Ithaca College, Holyoke Community College, and UMass Amherst for my bachelor’s degree in English. I also acquired a creative writing specialization and a certificate in Professional Writing and Technical Communication from UMass. Aside from my higher education credentials, my passion for writing and content comes from a love of storytelling in all shapes and forms.

Before I got into writing, I considered myself primarily a musician. In high school I spent all my time learning jazz piano, musical theater, acting, and singing. It wasn’t until I started my undergrad that I found my love for writing and literature, although I still play and learn music for fun during my free time. In fact, I’m currently learning how to play acoustic guitar, and I frequently write, record, and produce my own music in my bedroom recording studio.

In my professional career, I’ve worked as a technical writer at Pragma: a fully remote startup dedicated to building a backend engine for running the “online” part of online video games. I was an editor for copy and literary submissions for many student magazines and journals, a social media strategist intern for arts clients, and a bartender during college. Currently, I’m freelancing as a writer, editor, and content specialist, as well as taking contract work.

If you’re interested in my professional career, please feel free to have look at my resume and contact me for any business inquiries. If you’re interested in any future work I might be cooking up, please consider signing up for my newsletter for any upcoming stories, music, and projects I complete!

My favorite book? The Road by Cormac McCarthy. And in case you were wondering, my spirit animal is probably a tawny owl or a black bear (hence my site’s logo, made by the wonderful Maya Lapping-Rivera). What’s yours?
