About Me

Me, behind some woods, smiling at the camera.

Welcome! My name is Patrick Olszewski, and I’m a writer, content creator, and communications specialist. I specialize in writing for highly technical and specialized professionals, such as software developers, accountants, higher education students, and anyone who’s deeply invested in learning more about their field or expertise.

One of my most exciting roles was at Pragma: a fully remote startup dedicated to building a backend SaaS engine for running the “online” part of online video games. At Pragma, I worked as a Technical Content Writer managing written and video content creation for the company’s technical blog. My role was dedicated to teaching developers about Pragma’s products and to demonstrate what makes Pragma’s services unique in the gaming industry.

Additionally, I’ve written book summaries and educational content for EBSCO Learning, proofread accounting content for Thomson Reuters, served as a literary and copy editor for many student magazines and journals, and worked as a social media strategist for artists in Western Massachusetts.

Currently, I’m freelancing as a writer, editor, and content specialist, as well seeking more freelancing clients and full-time work.

If you’re interested in my professional career, please feel free to have look at my resume and contact me for any business inquiries.

For my education, I studied at Ithaca College, Holyoke Community College, and UMass Amherst for my bachelor’s degree in English. I also acquired a creative writing specialization and a certificate in Professional Writing and Technical Communication from UMass. Aside from my higher education credentials, my passion for writing and content comes from a love of storytelling in all shapes and forms.

Before I got into writing, I considered myself primarily a musician. In high school I spent all my time learning jazz piano, musical theater, acting, and singing. It wasn’t until I started my undergrad that I found my love for writing and literature, although I still play and learn music for fun during my free time. In fact, I’m currently learning how to play acoustic guitar, and I frequently write, record, and produce my own music in my bedroom recording studio.

If you’re interested in any future work I might be cooking up, please consider signing up for my newsletter for any upcoming stories, music, and projects I complete!

My favorite book? The Road by Cormac McCarthy. And in case you were wondering, my spirit animal is probably a tawny owl or a black bear (hence my site’s logo, made by the wonderful Maya Lapping-Rivera). What’s yours?
